CASE STUDY

Centralising Victoria’s statutory valuations

In December 2017, as a result of legislative changes, 75 of Victoria’s 79 local government authorities (LGAs) transferred responsibility for their 3.1 million statutory valuations to the Valuer-General Victoria (VGV). Until this point, the VGV was responsible for certification of the valuation and undertaking the revaluation of 18 Councils, while other revaluations were undertaken by individual LGAs.

In order to centralise these responsibilities and make the shift from a biennial to an annual valuation cycle, the Office of the VGV worked closely with Domain Insight to roll out the VM Online platform across Victoria’s 79 LGAs. As a result, the Office of the VGV was able to centralise and consolidate management of the revaluation into a central valuation calculation platform.

By April 2019, the VGV’s office successfully delivered its first annual revaluation on time and within budget.
